Dear All,

I work for a laboratory software company, so how the meteorites are analyzed is interesting to me. However I don’t know how to do it. My idea is to approach an acquaintance at a commercial lab and ask if they can assist. I have an unclassified NWA I would like to get looked at as it is only 262gr whole mass. I figure paying for the analysis is the easiest way.

As far as I can work out, some method of mass spectrometry needs to be done, but is it just a case of working out which elements are in the rock? What then happens to the results, and who should interpret them? Should a lab have a meteorite expert to do this interpretation?

Regards

Ryan Darby
