LARGE METEOR IN MEXICO

Denver, Col., June 21. - A special to the News from Tucson, Ari., says: The largest meteor ever seen in this part of the country fell between the pueblos of Los Molinas and Alter, in Senora, Mexico, on June 11, at 10 o'clock in the morning. The meteor was seen by parties in Tucson as it show toward the southwest. Although the sun was high, the meteor illuminated the sky and seamed to have burst at the horizon. El Progreso, a Spanish paper receiving in Tucson, contains an article describing the shock at Altar and the terror of the people when the meteor fell. It struck the earth about fourty miles from Altar, but the shock there was terrific and the people thought it was an earthquake. An exploring party will go out from Altar to try and find the place where the meteor fell.

(Mark note: Meteorites A to Z does not show a meteorite having fallen on June 11, 1901 in Mexico and having been recovered. It does show an unrelated meteorite that fell June 10, 1901 23:00 in Pakistan).
