In 1912 at the age of seventeen, Pauline was on the front porch of her family home when she saw the fireball approaching the small railroad town. During the few days after the fall, her fiance, father and uncle collected enough meteorites to earn more than a years wages apiece.
Over the years, she was interviewed by a variety of meteorite scientists, collectors and enthusiasts and always enjoyed telling the story. It was quite a treat to hear her tell her tale. I personally interviewed her several times and she always maintained that the object she saw was a comet.
