[meteorite-list] Shatter Cones

Hello List,  How can one tell whether or not a shatter cone was actually 
created by a meteorite
impact if you didn`t find it at or near the crater?  I picked a shatter 
cone up one day while out
hunting, thinking it was a shell fossil.
