If  this duplicates, I apologize, the first one came back as 'undelivered.'
Michael,
Here it is:

Looks more concave  rather than hollow. Perhaps there was more pieces?

Hi Chris & All,
I have a hollow meteorite and wrote about it in both METEORITE
MAGAZINE (Brief "in the news" or a "letter to the editor") and a full
length article in VOYAGE!
It was definitely, in my opinion, a case of weathering, with
the inner core being more subject to corrosion than the outer core.
Still, it was visually stunning and I treasure it as one of my top
10 pieces in my collection (for that reason).
I will see if I can find the old JPGs and set up a URL IF list
members are interested. - Let me know.
        Best wishes, Michael

Hi Bernd, list,

Thanks for your prompt response.

As a folklorist and historian I have been surprised by
the number of "weird meteorite" tales I have found in
18th-early 20th century newspapers and books. I have
received many of these during the research phase of a
Fortean/Folklore-related project we currently
conducting ("Magonia Exchange" - I want to stress that
it concerns folklore and Fortean beliefs, it is not
really UFO-oriented, and has serious objectives), and
some of them concern hollow meteorites, some
concealing objects or manuscripts. As this folkloric
motif has gone practically unexamined, I would first
like to establish whether the observation of hollow
meteorites could have helped produce the legends, but
also have a fairly good idea about how such objects
could be formed in nature.

Therefore, to answer your entirely warranted technical
question, let me say: I don't know!

Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks,

Chris
