Yes, I had the large piece of the 1838 for many months, but sent it to Nelson as I did not want to pay Habibi what he was asking for it. It is a superb meteorite and I wish I could have bought it.

Incorrect again Nels,

Look at the latest meteoritical bulletin and this abstract:
http://www.lpi.usra.edu/meetings/metsoc2004/pdf/5163.pdf

You only purchased the smaller half of each of these stones. Habibi had
these meteorites cut into two pieces and sold you the smaller parts. He
thought he was being clever getting free classifications on the larger
portions he hoarded of each stone thinking he would get more latter on.
This confused the TKW of each and every one of these specimens which has
since been corrected in later releases of the meteoritical bulletin and in
abstracts. Some were released to dealers in Morocco where Dr. Irving
spotted the larger half of NWA 1817 on expedition H13. Since it was not
being offered by Habibi we purchased it on the advice of Dr. Irving who said
it was the larger unaccounted for half of NWA 1817. This means we have the
main mass of NWA 1817. This is why you see this odd statement listed in the
above abstract: "NWA1817 (Hupe/Oaks)"

I lost tract of the larger pieces of NWA 1827 and 1838 but could find out
with a little digging. The larger piece of NWA 1838 was in circulation for
about two years and I believe was in Mike Farmers' possession for awhile.

All the best,

Adam Hupe
