Actually, someone on that discussion list came up with a great answer which is that when the lamp blew, what appears to be a trail is actually the shadow line of the top of the pole.

I'm a technical idiot, but this "trail" looks so straight to me. With a
common standard objective, wouldn't have such a trail of such a large angle
be pictured at least slightly as a bow?

When enlarged, it appears that the lamp on the pole has blown up. The dark
trail leading to it may be a spear on the lens as it did not change like
the
image did (pixelation).
