According to the meteorite definition: a meteorite is an extraterrestrial object that had survived crossing EARTH atmosphere.
True, so a slight revision to the defintion will be needed:
A meteorite is an object from space that has reached the surface of a planet.
That's a way so solve the problem. I would prefer a new name, but it is only a personnal opinion.
