Looks non-meteorite, in the quartzite or chert "slobber" family. Metamorphic in nature, will polish well but isn't as pretty as any agate that is more deserving of the time.
Try the Audubon Society Field Guide to Rocks and Minerals....there should be a picture in the back section of "rock types"...
