A stupid Question ?? What are the H chondrites doing grouped as Hualipia Wash ?? How many of the Hualipia Wash are H chondrites ??? I know that my find 021 is an H4 and was found long before Hualipia Wash 001 as a matter of fact it was found before Bob V. and the folks on this list ever heard of Gold Basin !!! Yet it earned Lucky #21 status !!

No, this won't "require" the renaming of anything that was only provisional named. But it will bring about the reclassification of Gold Basin. The referenced abstract suggests:
Gold Basin L4-6 (br)
And, yes, this does "show what good science can do". But it also shows the positive results from the collaboration of collectors and researchers. Because if it wasn't for the keen eye of various collectors and hunters, the "L6" characteristics may never have been recognized and properly recorded.

Bob, Thanks for the link concerning Hualapai Wash and Gold Basin.
There has been a lot of behind the scenes talk about this issue over the past four or five years. Some thought that it was incredible that there would be twenty (20) different Hualapai Wash meteorites in addition to the original Gold Basin find. The idea that the Gold Basin meteoroid was a heterogeneous mass appears to have some merit now. This just goes to show what good science can do.
Do you suppose that this will require the renaming of Hualapai 001 - 020?
