Hi Folks,
Here are a couple of items of interest to meteorite collectors.
First, after 25 years of collecting meteorite thin sections, I have decided to start selling them. Over the years I have amassed a collection of over 900 wonderful thin sections. After years of buying thin sections from other dealers I began putting aside small fragments of rare material to have made into thin sections. I always thought that since I would not allow myself to collect meteorites, that I would in turn allow myself to collect thin sections instead as well as books on the subject of meteorites and tektites. Ive always resisted selling thin sections and books because I felt the need to fill that collecting urge with something, so books and thin sections were my choice. Several years ago I started building a display collection of meteorites. Now that the meteorite collection has grown to several hundred specimens, I am beginning to see too many of my business dollars just sitting there on the shelf. So I have decided to offer my thin sections for sale as well as having decided to put the meteoritics library collection back on E-Bay.
If you have an interest in thin sections and would like to send me your wish list or would simply like to be put on my mailing list for future thin section sales lists, then please send me a request e-mail. Because I do not have all 900 thin sections catalogued, I will begin by selling them per specific requests (wish lists). Then, after the count has dropped considerably and while I am filling your orders I will work on producing a complete list of what I have available. Also, I have sent off over 100 more specimens to several thin section makers in the past 6 months and they will begin to come in now. Please bear in mind that I am not trying to be the K-Mart of thin sections. These are high quality double
polished large surface area thin sections averaging roughly 10 x 20mm and larger. There are lots of old classics in stock. Meteorites like Vigerano, Zagami, Mighei, Colony and ALH 76009. There are new falls and finds like
Second, now for the book collection, many of you saw the Edwin Thompson Meteoritics Library Collection offered on E-Bay in the Fall of 2000. In the years since, I have continued to add to the collection whenever I came upon a book that needed to be added to the collection. I have decided to offer the collection again on E-Bay this Memorial Day Week of 2005. There are over 500 books in the collection and over 1000 publications total. Many are signed and most are first editions, with books from all the way back to 1565. The collection was built over 28 years of aggressive scouting for books all over the World from
Cheers, Edwin Thompson
