Hello list,

A list member recently brought to my attention, Meteorite Day, celebrated June 30th. This appears to be perhaps an American Greeting Card company promotion...as they have a tried to turn every day into a holiday, and June also includes Remote Control Day and No More TV Day in the same month, but hey, who am I to Bah Humbug "Meteorite Day", and it is the anniversary of the 1908 Tunguska event, which appears to be the reason in the "holiday".

If you search Google you can find free Meteorite Day e-mail cards. Now one has to wonder, what are the traditions of meteorite day. Hang tektites from a tree?, Hide meteorites in the yard for kids to find? Any meteorite day parade planned? Stockings full of carbonaceous meteorites?

Clear Skies,
Mark Bostick
