Hi,

    This makes a lot of sense. It would appear that the cartoon dog was 
probably named FOR the planet, as this name
would have been in the news at the time -- the discovery of the planet was a 
sensation everybody talked about! Walt
was just cashing in on the free publicity. Just like him.
