I'm wondering whether everyone has jumped to a wrong conclusion at to what is the correct answer.

In a vacuum all bodies will be accelerated by gravity at the same rate. However the question was if ON EARTH! (emphasis added) 2 spheres of different weight are dropped. Since the heavier sphere has a smaller surface to volume ratio it will be slowed less by air friction and will land first. The difference in time over 100 meters will be VERY small, but it will be there none the less.
