Doesn't anyone on the list know of someone near the area that can disburse
the raised funds directly to the people that need it. Even if it helped only
one family.
I never liked giving to charities because I knew majority of the
contribution would never make it to the people who really needed it.
There has got to be someone ( trustworthy ) relatively close to the area
that is willing to commute to the area.
The list wouldn't even have to bother with choosing a charity.
Just a thought !

Now with the Red Cross, I can see where they would need alot for admin. An
organization that has offices in virtually every country in the world
would cost alot of money. I sure as hell see them on the news at every
disaster that occurs. I think most of these Christian groups are just
holding their hands out and looking for more people to add to their
mailing lists.

Hello,
Read in today's paper (Rocky Mountains News):
- 81% of all funds collected by the Red Cross go to the actual charity.
19%
administrative expenses.
- The Catholic Church has asked his members to set time aside for
prayers
for the victims today.
In conclusion: I will not give one penny to any evangelical
organization.
