Hi Josiah and M.Doug,
If I may add to Mexico Doug's excellent post. You may wish to read Jeff
Grossman's directions for Google Earth link:
http://six.pairlist.net/pipermail/meteorite-list/2005-November/178712.html
You will need to install Google Earth and IE browser on your computer.
(this doesn't seem to work on Netscape 7.2?)
Go to :
http://tin.er.usgs.gov/meteor/metbull.php
Under "Search for;" select 'Places'
"Search Type" select 'Contains'
"Limits" select 'United States' and 'All classes'
"Display" select 'Link to Google Earth'
"Search text" type 'Indiana' and next 'All bulls'
Hit 'Select"
Under Google Earth Header select "Map all"
And you will see thirteen Indiana Meteorite on your Google Map.
best,
Ken Newton

Hola J.J., Welcome !! It is great to have you here...
Maybe this map will help for an orientation:

It comes from this page, where you can see the official names of all 13 from
Indiana on the map, and click on them to see a picture of the individual
meteorites to get an idea of what to look for, even if they are a lot more
weathered after the years on(in) the ground:

And with the official names, you can go to the fantastic website Dr.
Grossman has set up, and get the best available summaries of most of them, along
with the best available latitude and longitude coordinates, and a better map
with the Google link provided:
http://tin.er.usgs.gov/meteor/metbull.php
And then come back to the list to share what you come up with!
Saludos, Doug

hello, I live in southern Indiana; and I'm new to this discussion/interest,
and have never tried looking for meteorites. Have any meteorites been found
in Indiana before? Does a map exist such as one of the google maps that
might show where meteorites have been found before??
I found one such similar google map a few days ago, that showed all the
reported sightings of UFO's on a google map of the United States. No, I'm not
interested UFO's; but only happened upon the map.
Thanks.
S. Indiana
