Hi Mark and list,
within the last 6 months, on eBay, someone was selling large Chinese tektites that were translucent with a purple tinge, I never managed to obtain one though. The specimens photos were taken in front of a bright light to allow you to see the colour coming through from behind. Some areas of the stones were darker and appeared black, with some of the more translucent areas appearing as purple blobs and steaks. In other words, it was not homogenous.

Did anyone else see these, or manage to win one at auction ?

Can anyone confirm that they were the ridgi didg item ?

Cheers, Kevin. VK3UKF.

Hello list,

Hope everyone is doing well.

This may or may not be interesting, as it may or may not be that unusual. However, I have sorted through and sold a lot of tektites over the years and this is the only tektite like it I have seen.

A nice average sized dumbell tektite....

Photographs were taken under white photograph lights in a room with white walls. The color is more obvious in person and was hard to reproduce digitally. On the ends and in the surface dimples, you can see a very striking blue color. The ends also show a little purple color, but more of the blue. Not sure what has caused this colorling. Any thoughts?
