Thaddeus,
You are beginning to breach territory you know
nothing about. Well-known and respected scientists examined every piece of
the 118 grams that make up NWA 1110. A type specimen was deposited and thin
sections were taken from several of the pieces but not all. Images
were taken of the recovery efforts in the field and coordinates were recorded.
NWA 1110 was voted on and approved by the Nomenclature Committee making every
piece official. NWA1110 is the second set of pairings studied from the same
shattered meteorite that has been coming out for the last three
years. Several self-proclaimed pairings to NWA 1110 are not official, have
not been looked at by scientists and are in no way to be confused with the
real NWA 1110 series of stones.
This has been argued in this forum in the past and
a consensus was reached. People who deal meteorites and borrow other's official
numbers and descriptions are now considered a low breed. It is not fair to
collectors to receive something that was presented as being official when in
fact no scientist has qualified the piece and it was never made official.
The rules have been tightened up considerably because of past abuses by a few
individuals who deal part time and are not interested in selling official
material. Nomenclature is no longer passed out freely and must be
requested only after study is underway. This is good for collectors and science
at the same time.
If you look hard enough; you will see that the
playing field is evolving and a healthy balance between hunters and
scientists is becoming the norm. Now stop sounding like a bored BLM agent
who has been patrolling desert wasteland way too long for that rare chance
to give some poor unsuspecting person a ticket just for needed
entertainment. Ruining somebody's day with a ticket to show how much
self-perceived power (very little amount of actual power) you
have will only make people close their ears and mind to what you have to
say.
Good Day,
Adam
