Hi Ron, I have been using Chevron brand Automatic Transmission Fluid for 6 or 7 years to stabilize iron meteorites. The only thing I did differently was dry the iron slice with a hair drier instead of an oven. I passed this technique on to several people who have been using it successfully for years. It works on all types of meteorites including pallasites. Ruben
