If you want to see something really scary, look at the ad in the August issue of Astronomy Magazine about meteorites.

how are these people trying to screw buyers and why do they need to be stoped?

the auction does say quite clearly that they arent sure what the thing is and that they arent experts. they include a photo that would allow anyone who has more than 5 minutes of experience with meteorites to identify this stone as NOT a meteorite.

as meteorwrongs go this is probably the most innocent example as one can get. what you should really be worried about is the liked of the bcc meteorite peddlers out there who actually ahve a chance of pulling the wool over on someone...


This guy on Ebay has a meteorwrong on Ebay. It is SO wrong that he has been
contacted by other people, telling him that it is not a meteorite.
