I am an ancient coin collector with a mild interest in meteorites, but a long history of involvement with discussion lists. I have a few meteorites but am generally not interested in collecting named falls or subtle esoterica. I follow the list because I just find meteorites interesting and I also like the links given to items of more general interest, i.e., the pluto discussion, the Mars probes, etc.
So my perspective is more that of an outside than an insider. I am amazed by the tolerance of this list toward the individual named Chicago Steve. On the ancient coin lists the long term pattern of behavior exhibited by this individual would not be tolerated. That is why I am not offended or bothered by the posts that call him to task. My one question is very simple and to the point. Why is he allowed to remain on the list? Does the moderator have the patience of Job?
