Thank you very much to all of you who responded to my post. I am glad you
liked my pictures, and enjoyed the short break.
For those of you who asked:
Georgetown is only about 45 miles west of Denver, just off Interstate-70
(you can see it on the left side of my first picture, http://www.impactika.com/co0906.htm).
In the gold and silver mining days, it was a market town, distribution
center for several mining districts in the area. In fact one of them, the
Argentine Basin with the ghost town of Waldorf is just west and above the
small valley with the lakes I wandered into, but you need a Jeep to
climb up to it. Now, Georgetown has been restored with a lot a Victorian
houses, shops, restaurants, and it is a stopping point for tourists and skiers
going further in the mountains.
