Dear List,
our auctions on ebay offering two of the specimens
found at Noktat Addagmar/Morocco have triggered a number of replies we would
like to share. We have learned that approx. 3 kgs of meteorites from the area
are circulating since at least December 2005. This makes the reported fall date
June 30, 2006 obsolete. The meteorite is an ordinary chondrite and our
first impression and that of our Polish colleagues is that the material represents a LL4
lithology.
The controversial intelligence on this material in
mind we renew our request for additional information. We still haven't decided
yet on a submission but will definetively do so, when we succeed to obtain sound
information on the circumstances of the discovery. We will gladly provide high
resolution images to those requesting.
For those interested, the auctions will close in a
couple of hours:
188 gm Noktat Addagmar:
420 gm Noktat Addagmar:
Furthermore we take to liberty to include the link
to a breathtaking unclassified 1.3 kg chondrite that was discovered by a shepherd near a seddlement named Imlili 10Km from El Argoub
which is 90Km from Dakhla/Morocco on April 25, 2005.
Thanks for your support and your interest.
Svend
