Apparently, the ionosphere is why meteorites burn up.  And if we lost the
ionosphere. all the Earth's atosphere would escape into space and the Earth
would cool to Absolute Zero.  But the ionosphere is getting more rigid, so I
guess that there'll be fewer meteorites reaching the ground.  :-(
