Hi Bernd and All,
how wonderful that you already have your piece secured.
This is really a fantastic looking meteorite.
Now could it be an iron-ung?
Or why not?
I just saw for the first time that such classification exists.
Actually it looks a little like Barbianello.
But of course I still have much to learn!
The recommended classification Iron-ung means according to the met.bulletin
"An iron meteorite that does not fit into any of the established chemical
groups."
The highlighted words are defined as follows:
Iron meteorite: A meteorite that is dominantly composed of Fe-Ni metal and
that crystallized from a melt.

Wow! That sure is one showy little meteorite!
I think it may be my favorite of the whole year.
.. as did Dave Carothers: "WOW!!!!! Very Nice."
Yes, that's a very intriguing new iron meteorite. I can hardly wait for the
classification results - surely something "anomalous" and/or "ungrouped,"
maybe even artificially "reheated" and/or "severely disturbed and shocked!"
I was lucky enough to acquire a small 4.8-gram slice today that Mirko Graul
offered on EBay per "Buy It Now" option.
Best Santa Fé
regards,
Bernd
