Hello Steve, Dirk and List,
I will have some of this new material maybe as early as this Friday so I
should be able to help determine if it is different from Bassikounou.
Best regards,
Greg

Subject: [meteorite-list] Fwd: Re: supposed new mali fall
Hi Steve and List,
Sorry for all of the hassles that I have given you
in the past. I am sorry. I will do my best to
leave
you alone.
I really appreciate that you asked a valid question
about this "fall".
BTW: Did you put the red bull stuff on your site
or
did someone else? It got several laughs if that is
what you wanted. Thanks, I thought that it was a
good
tactic to drive traffic to your site.
About the supposed fall. I am a bit suspicious
that
the Moroccans are pulling another "fall" to boost
their sales. The new fall in Peru has sapped almost
all of the attention in the meteorite world and
metlist.
I am very concerned about any recent fall in
Morocco
as we don`t know for 100% certainly for some of the
reports. My own experience there taught me that one
should be very careful to believe anything until it
has been confirmed by several dis-interested
unrelated
sources.
If you think that you want one of these stones buy
it or wait until the price settles to a real level
or
if you think that the price is right buy it.
I think that this will certainly be the case with
Carancas. Everyone is speculating that very little
was found and therefore the price is about $100/gr
for
an OC with an unknown TKW.
In Morocco and elsewhere, the people that know if
X
is being sold as Y are most likely not speaking
about
it. Only classification of the stone may tell.
Sorry I don`t know the answer to your specific
question.
Best Regards, Dirk Ross...Tokyo
