I would bring a nice Pallasite , a nice Sikhote alin, and a freshly crusted chondrite. This would be a nice start, because the kids dont need to be overloaded with too much info on an initial presentation.

I did a presentation a few years back for some 5th graders. It was a great experience for the kids as well as myself.

One thing tough, they are going to want to have a piece for themselves to take home.
So, you may want to buy a small lot of NWA's to give to them.

Have fun !

Subject: [meteorite-list] Fw: Teaching Meteorite Stuff

Hi,

I apologize if this went through a second time.

I'm curious, a friend and I, both of us belonging to a mineral club, go to
area schools, mostly 6th and 7th grades and teach them about minerals and
some easy fossils. If I wanted to expand this to include meteorites, what
would I show, include or teach so that the 6th and 7th graders would
understand meteorites?

Thanks.
Ron

I do not want to sound as if I am a know-it-all because I am not. I want
to learn, so
when I bring my meteorite collection to school, I can make a presentation
that will both
instruct and inspire the kids to want to learn more.
