I wish that when scientists make pronouncements like this, they would not play 
coy but give a thumbnail explanation why they are contradicting current 
thought, what evidence they have found to the contrary.  Instead, the stories 
seem more slanted to grabbing headlines and playing to the "extraterrestrials 
from Procyon did it!" crowd, which may be more the news hounds than the 
researchers.
