dear IMCA fellows, just read the sad news about gary and his wife's wish to sell his meteorites (and everything else). I simply refuse the idea that a fellow meteorite collector has to give away his/her little or great treasure to pay bills for healthcare. I'm trying to figure out what that could mean to me, laying in a hospital bed and thinking that what is most valuable to me is going for sale among "friends", and I'm scared of this thought. Is this the only way we can help suffering people, buying their things at auctions? I know that this has been done in the past, and I like to think that it has been done in the pure spirit of helping. No offense to anyone: I'm only asking to our community to consider leaving gary's stones and irons at gary's home, and send him instead a decent amount of money to help him (maybe the same amount one should have wished to spend for an auction?) I'm sure that keeping his things around him will make his recovery much faster and complete.

only a suggestion, not a moral lesson :-)

best to you all

leandro
