All, I've been contacted by the author of this article and am requesting brief, bulleted comments from all who care to contribute before responding to him. There were obviously many points which were well off base, but there's no point in leaving any stone unturned (no pun intended) before sending a complete and accurate reply. He genuinely seems to want to correct the mistakes in his article, and that's good.
