I wouldn't do it for rock or meteorite. The resin/Lucite/acrylic will likely crack unless you put your material in a vacuum and remove as much water as possible. Even some of the Apollo lunar material Lucites cracked and they had been in vacuum for millions of years. I have looked into it extensively and was advised that the failure rate is incredible for this kind of material.
