Hi Bernd, Dean & all,

I seem to recall something like that too Bernd. Although I don't personally have a piece of the BL meteorite, it does appear to be a beautiful meteorite and I've followed the story over the years (and updated my page where I could). Now I could be completely off track here but I think there 'may have' been a second batch after that initial BL batch Dean sold many years ago. I'll cc Dean to this email as maybe he can recall better what material there was and when. I always thought NWA 1685 was the number for this meteorite too but I'm not sure where that came from. Maybe NWA 1685 was one BL individual of 1302g with the others pieces making up the 11.6kg total?

Cheers,

Jeff

Subject: [meteorite-list] Dean's BL NWA 1685

Hi BL owners, hello List,

Friday, 23 Aug 2002, two very knowledgeable list members sent me a short note informing me that from they "saw in four years of checking Moroccan chondrites," they were pretty sure there were seven (!) different chondrites in his [= Dean's] lot and that three stones were "Taouz 002 LL6 (maybe LL7) individuals." Maybe
they would like to chime in!

Best from sunny
Germany,

Bernd
