Hi List, For those of us quietly following the Kem Kem hootnanny from the peanut gallery, I'd like to ask if the summary below is correct (essentially) -
A specimen sold as "Kem Kem" could be just about anything from a H chondrite to a R chondrite? So as far as official nomenclature is concerned, Kem Kem is strictly a geographic place (where meteorites are found/bought) and not a reference to particular find, fall, or petrologic type? Are there any other synonyms or catch-all names like this in use? I heard that El Hammami had once been used in this manner, to a lesser degree. Is this true?
