Subject: [meteorite-list] More eBay cancelled auctions

Hello everyone,

I've just had an auction I was bidding on cancelled a few hours before it was to close.

eBay seller pat31416 (name on a shown label Pat Mulvany) had listed two small fragments of meteorite oxide from the Lanton meteorite. The auctions were listed with starting bids of $.99. (note: he is NOT a member of the IMCA.)

A few hours before the auctions were to close at about 7PM Saturday evening, they were both cancelled. The one I was bidding on still had a high bid showing of $.99; there was no bid on the other auction.

A few hours after they were cancelled, both were re-listed and this time with a starting bid of $10.00 (one of the item numbers is 330356143296)

As I remember from an earlier thread, FleaBay does not care if a seller breaks his/her implied contract by cancelling an auction (I could be wrong). I definitely can NOT prove it, but by circumstantial evidence, it *appears* that Mr. Mulvany did not want to sell a specimen for just $.99 so he just cancelled the auction(s).

Even though my high bid on the earlier item was higher than the new starting price, I choose NOT to deal with this seller and will not bid on these items or any others of his.
