Hardbacks of industry-published, widely marketed books have MSRPs in the $25 range-- most of which end up being sold for less than the cover price. Most books are not printed as hardbacks, and most hardbacks don't sell many copies. Most books sales are for mass-market paperbacks that sell for under $10.
