That would be one amazing fireball, persistence of over 30 minutes over southern California? Probably a military launch rather than a meteor. After the Anti-Missile trials of Oct 2005, I don't trust these reports that aren't supported by radar.

Come on now, something finally crosses my area and everything goes
quiet. No radar images. It's a perfect weekend here in LA. Clear skies,
nice and hot. In fact, I'm sitting back waiting for 9.41 tonight to
watch the launch of Minotaur IV from Vandenberg AFB.
