Hi All,
Of course they deny that the rock is real. There is no reason for them to acknowledge the loss of any material and if they were to confiscate it, these pretenders would simply be encouraged. So ignore them and hope values never get established.

Subject: [meteorite-list] The recent Ebay "Apollo Moon Rock"

I sent an e-mail to the NASA Johnson Space Center regarding the supposed "authentic" Apollo moon rock that is not a meteorite with the link to that Ebay auction.

Here is the first reply that I got:
--------
Dear Steve Schoner:

Your query was forwarded to me. The rock for sale on eBay is/was not a real Moon rock.

Sincerely,

I might get a few more responses as I sent a couple of e-mails out to other NASA departments that handle Apollo moon rocks.
