Hi, List,

Several list members will more knowledge of drilling muds than I have pointed out (thoughtfully
off-list) that they have BARITES (barium), not
BORATES (boron) in them, are designed to work at high pressures and lower temperatures, etc.
Thanks for straightening me out

Now there is trouble at Fukushima #3 which
a plutonium reactor, so I get to go back and
re-read the chapters on them I skipped night
before last. I'd dug through my old textbooks and found a copy of Glasstone and Sesonske's "Nuclear Reactor Engineering" (1963, 2nd Ed.)

When I was a grad student, I couldn't work the intro reactor class into my schedule, but found a copy of the text, used, for $2.00 in a bookstore up the street. I would send you off to Amazon if you were interested in reading up on reactors, but they want $420 for the 2-vol. 1994 edition.

Seems knowledge ain't cheap...
