Hi Michael. I feel your pain. I know that I have shopped around and several
times I found a specimen I was interested in that did not have a "sold" next
to it. I would email the Dealer/Seller of my interest, only to find out it
was sold. It would bum me out, I'll admit. Seems logical that has soon as it
is sold, it should be removed immediately or at the least have a "sold" on
the specimen as soon as possible. It's possible Michael that some
Dealers/Sellers cannot do their Website and thus must pay or wait till
someone can make changes. I have my Website and am lucky I can make changes
right away. I have to admit I do spend too much time on it....ALWAYS
updating I do my best to be loyal to my Buyers/Visitors. To be successful,
especially with the business of Meteorites, one has to keep these Buyers,
Potential Buyers, Visitors and People browsers up to date and fully aware of
available stock. The world of technology, the internet and mobility leaves
few stones for excuses. Not trying to offend anybody just my thought and
only my thought.
Sincerely

Subject: [meteorite-list] Question for dealers re: displaying sold items
List,
I am curious why almost every meteorite dealer's website displays
specimens that have already sold right along side specimens that are
in stock and available for sale? I do not know of any other market
that does this; it is unique to meteorites in my experiences. As a
collector/prospective buyer I do not see the upside to this practice.
It does nothing for helping me find what I'm looking for; in fact it
is counter productive when I am shopping for a specimen as it makes it
more difficult to see what is actually available for sale. It's
synonymous with looking for clothes in your size and every store has
displays showing your size but not actually selling any clothes that
fit you. Maybe a separate page for "Sold Specimens" would be more
appropriate if there was a need that I am not aware of to display
pieces that have already been sold? I look forward to becoming
educated on this matter.
Regards,
Michael in so. Cal.
