FWIW- I think that NANTAN get's a bad rap just from how old the fall is, and
there is typically a lot of external rust and terrestrialization after 500
some-odd years. Lawrencite disease doesn't seem to be a real problem with
them from what I have seen.

I have a ~120 kg endpiece of Nantan, cut by Robert Ward ~4 years ago, looks
better than my cut Gibeon which shows some rust in Tucson, Nantan flawless. 
I will have many nice pieces of this Nantan in Ensisheim/St Marie next
month.
