No, standard glass is just fine. However, you may wish to silanise them 
with dichlorodimethylsilane (RepelCote, RepelSilane). That results in a 
1 molecule thick layer of silicone on the glass, that prevents gels from 
sticking to the plates when you open the cassettes. In a fume cupboard, 
just briefly dip the plates in the solution, air-dry and rinse with 
water. When gels start sticking again after a couple of uses, just 
repeat the process.
