-Could you use an clear amber coloured art plastics? I am guessing it maybe
available in art stores like this one online in the US in art or craft
stores such as Jo-Ann or Utrecht. It's pretty inexpensive and is called
"clear-lay" in the US.
-Alternatively there's the pexiglass that is probably expensive (~$45 for a
sheet roughly the size of the transilluminator box); or
-perhaps try X-ray film exposed to very low light and developed? I wonder
if that would work.
