Hi Miguel!
I have a few questions about running metro 3.1.0.
Input of the variables:
What height should the meteorological variables be
measured at or forecasted for? For example I have
forecasted values of temperature at 2m and 10m. I
could not find any information about this in the Wiki.
Speed:
I have run the model for each hour for about two
months data. That means running the model 1470 times
and I have varied different variables. Now it takes a
little more than 1 hour to run the model 1470 times on
my laptop. Is there a way to speed things up? Is it
possible to turn of the information that is written to
the screen? I think that handling the xml files takes
a bit of time. The tabular format will be welcome in
my opinion.
Radiation calibration:
I ran the model with input of measured values of
radiation by replacing cloud cover and wind direction
with radiation and then modifying the code. Now metro
changes the radiation during the calibration phase, so
you will never have the same radiation used in the
model as your input. I tried to run the model with
only one hour overlap to avoid calibration, but it
still changed the radiation. Is there a way to turn
the calibration of?
Also if you have stations with measured solar flux, it
does not need calibration, so it would be good to use
the calibration part for some other variable, for
example ground heat flux or sensible heat flux. Would
that be difficult to change in the code?
I am also thinking of testing the way the sensible
heat flux is calculated by varying the eddy
diffusivity, i e the constant used to calculate the
sensible heat flux from the air temperature and
surface temperature. Can this be changed in the file
constPhys.f (CPD)?
I will post some results from the runs with varying
input as soon as I have the results in order.
Many questions, sorry...
Thank you in advance!
