Previously we tried to integrate django-modeltranslation with Mezzanine, but the integration was very lightweight and had a lot of edge cases, so without the manpower to get it working properly, it was removed at the time.
Now Mathias Ettinger has contributed a new attempt at this, and at a glance it looks much more complete. It will however need extremely thorough testing across all the difference features of Mezzanine before we can consider it.
