Another few options without much thought given:

- Use a page processor that replaces the normal Page instance of a product with it's parent category (if it only has one). - Create a new setting that changes the behavior of the product view to do the the same as above for sites that want to follow this approach.

I think it is important to keep this optional because some sites use the categories as a regular page tree, while others use them as simple tags to sort and filter products.
