Hi Geoff, I would appear that the `thumbnail` tag is failing silently. This can happen for a lot of reasons, although for me it usually comes down to an issue with converting the image. I'm not exactly sure what the reason for this is, but when converting the image it throws an IOError. In the next couple days I'll be looking more into this, and I had posted a topic a few days ago about a similar issue. Hopefully someone will figure it out! If not, perhaps consider looking into thumbnail alternatives, such as sorl-thumbnail?
