This would be interesting. I am on board. As i'm pretty new here i'm not so sure if it belongs in the source code, but it'd be pretty easy to implement this in a reusable way if not.
Also if you or anyone else is interested in a different solution you can run jQuery in no conflict mode <http://stackoverflow.com/questions/1566595/can-i-use-multiple-versions-of-jquery-on-the-same-page> and get the same result.
