This would be interesting.  I am on board.  As i'm pretty new here i'm not 
so sure if it belongs in the source code, but it'd be pretty easy to 
implement this in a reusable way if not.

Also if you or anyone else is interested in a different solution you can 
run jQuery in no conflict mode
