I wrote a reusable app adding digital product support to Cartridge: https://github.com/ryneeverett/cartridge-downloads.
I initially implemented a `DownloadProduct` as a subclass of `Product` using a custom products branch of Cartridge ( https://github.com/stephenmcd/cartridge/pull/293), but it didn't prove necessary or even advantageous for this use case. I could see where this feature would be needed in more complex use cases though.
