I'm a beginner with mezzanine and, although I've just started, I think it's great to create multi-language sites. In fact, the application I am developing is multi-language and after some installations and configurations mezzanine has done everything automatically. I begun reading mezzanine documentation for sites multi-language <http://mezzanine.jupo.org/docs/multi-lingual-sites.html>. It will suggest that you read django-modeltranslation documentation for install it <http://django-modeltranslation.readthedocs.io/en/latest/installation.html>, in this one, If you are going to work with a new Mezzanine installation without creating content types or applications, you can stop at point 3 and back to the mezzanine documentation for sites multi-language sites <http://mezzanine.jupo.org/docs/multi-lingual-sites.html>. Else, when you get to point 4 (Create a translation.py), I suggest you pause and take a look at the documentation for Registering Models for Translation <http://django-modeltranslation.readthedocs.io/en/latest/registration.html>.
I created an application with a custom content type and I had problems, I solved them by downgrading the *bleach* package from version *2.0.0* to version *1.5.0*. I also had problems when I migrated, I solved the problem by doing the migration only for my application (manage.py makemigrations my_app_name) and modifying the migration file (in my case called *0001_initial.py*) before migrate, changing the dependency value assigned to '*pages*' by the last migration created before my migration (in my case called *0003_auto_20150527_1555*) After these installations and configurations Mezzanine has taken care of everything automatically and works wonders.
