My son bought a Compaq 133Mhz laptop about a year ago for $250 and it's served him well. They sell corporate surplus equipment and have a public cash/carry sale the first Saturday of the month, strictly AS-IS. You can see them up and running but they only have DOS installed. They open at 9am but start lining up at 8am. Last month I went at 9:30 (after the big line) and they still had many IBM thinkpads, 233 and 266 Mhz, priced at $275 to $350. They also have desktops, monitors, printers, copiers and other office equipment/furniture.
